Advantages of knotless nettings

The following article describes several of NITTO 's knotless netting's qualities, advantages and values.

1. CAPABLE OF USING VARIOUS SYNTHETIC FIBRES

Some of the synthetic fibres are dangerous for making knotted netting not only because of the loss in their tensile strength after twisting and knotting but also due to the fact that they are so slippery that the knotted sections may easily loosen. This often results in the net having numerous irregular-shaped ("K") meshes. Polyester knotted netting was virtually abandoned by most netting manufacturers due to this very reason.

When synthetic fibres are knotted, the percentage of decrease in their tensile strength is: POLYESTER -   40%, VINYL CHLORIDE - 35%, NYLON -30%

Nitto's knotless netting process takes advantage of the characteristics of all the synthetic fibres and allows you choose the most suitable materials for your specific purposes.

2. LESS WEIGHT AND BULK

NITTO 's knotless netting is lighter and less bulky than knotted netting, primarily due to the elimination of knots. Of course, the thicker the net and the smaller the mesh, the greater the difference. NITTO's knotless net weighs about:

- THINNER (or LARGE MESH) TYPE 12~18% less than knotted net,

- THICKER (or SMALL MESH) TYPE 35~50% less than knotted net.

3. LESS RESISTANCE TO CURRENTS

The elimination of knots reduces the sea-water resistance to net, allows water to pass through the meshes faster and in the case of netting with a specific gravity of greater than 1.00, sink faster and deeper.

4. HIGHER QUALITY CATCH

The lighter and less bulky net assures quicker deployment and retrieval operations. This is essential for fish quality, especially, when the temperature is high and spoilage is a key concern.

5. STRONGER RESISTANCE AGAINST ABRASION

Abrasion which usually occurs at the knotted sections is not a problem with NITTO's knotless netting. Moreover, every Nylon filament in Nitto's knotless netting is equivalent to N210D/7F(30 denier/ filament) or N210D/3F(70d/f). Knotted netting is N210D/34F(6.2d/f) or N210D/24F (8.75d/f), which causes significant difference in its resistance against abrasion due to the increase in weight and/or diameter of each filament.

6. ADDS STABILITY TO YOUR VESSEL

With a lighter and less bulky net your vessel saves engine fuel, motor oil and increases the speed and stability of the vessel. This allows you to make sets and better head way even in rough weather.

7. ALLOWS OPERATION WITH THINNER NET

Because NITTO's knotless netting is much stronger than knotted netting, a thinner net can be deployed. This also serves to reduce weight, bulkiness, and the sea currents' resistance to net (as well as cost too!).

8. ENABLES YOU TO INCREASE THE SIZE OF YOUR NET

Increasing the size of your net may require replacement costs of increasing the size of your turn table, Power Block and possibly your Purse Winch. The use NITTO's knotless netting however, may allow you to enlarge it without changing any of such equipment.

9. EASIER AND SAFER OPERATION

It is obvious that lighter and less bulky net can be handled much easier and safer in the limited space of a boat.

10. GREATER ECONOMY

The characteristics of our knotless netting may allow you to reduce the weight of drop chains, diameter of rope, and the need for larger size models of hydraulic winches, save fuel and other. The amount of money saved by using NITTO's knotless netting can be easily seen!!
